UWE, Bower Ashton Studio Block

Client: University of the West of England
Value: £3.5m
Duration: 2007 – 2008

Alec French Architects developed a 10 year masterplan on this highly sensitive site bordering the Ashton Court Estate. The masterplan allowed for replacement of existing buildings and the insertion of new buildings around a new central court, reorganisation of campus circulation and the introduction of a new main entrance.

The first phase was a new studio building providing accommodation for reception, administration, exhibition gallery, studios, and seminar rooms. Completed in September 2007, the studio building has allowed students and staff to be decanted from the main teaching block, which has been totally refurbished and completed in April 2008.
