Quakers Friars, Bristol

As part of the proposals for the re-vitalisation of the eastern part of Broadmead Shopping Centre, Alec French Architects were responsible for the design of the area immediately around the listed Quakers Friars buildings.

The scheme creates a new civic space with restaurants, cafes and small specialist shops. A new retail spine provides a link between the further proposed retail to the east, and the existing retail and the rest of the City centre.

Residential accommodation is provided in a new landmark tower, rising over the main retail block, and above the retail components of the scheme totalling some 218 residential units.
